Southern Company Info Systems Analyst (Primavera) in Birmingham, Alabama

Info Systems Analyst (Primavera)



This position will be assigned to the Primavera Center of Excellence (COE) within the Technology Operations support portfolio. The Primavera COE is currently responsible for providing on-going technical support to Generation, Nuclear, Technical & Project Solutions, and Transmission. Primavera is an enterprise application used by Southern Company to manage daily schedules, outage schedules, and major projects.

This position will provide ongoing production support for all Primavera users. In addition, this position may have opportunities to be involved in support of other applications within the Technology Operations support portfolio.


  • Support requirements gathering efforts and development of functional / technical specifications

  • Application configuration to meet business requirements

  • Application architectural support through partnerships with Southern Company Services (SCS) server support, DBA's, Citrix support, Windows and Unix server support

  • Support design, development and support of interfaces from Primavera to other applications

  • Application life cycle management

  • Software change management

  • Coordinate vendor maintenance and support

  • Assist project manager with project oversight and provision of status reports to management and customers

  • Develop strong knowledge around the related business processes and how they will be supported through the Primavera application

  • Build strong relationships with the business across OPCO's and SCS to enable effective Primavera implementation and ongoing support


  • Primavera technical implementation and support experience is desired

  • 3 years experience implementing and maintaining software provided by external vendors

  • Demonstrated project management experience preferred with deployment of significant projects on time and within budgets

  • Demonstrated experience as a team player on strong results - oriented teams

  • Developed effective working relationships with employees, peers, and management

  • Demonstrated communication skills (oral/written)

  • Strong knowledge of application management methodologies/processes & technologies

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of existing and emerging information technologies

  • Experience in application development preferred including implementation and maintenance utilizing C#, .NET platforms as well as SQL / Oracle databases

  • Knowledge and ability to coordinate work across all functions in IT


  • BS or BA degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field is preferred
