JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for leading and managing technical delivery and support for Southern Company’s Integrations, Extensions, Automation, Data Framework, Test Automation Framework, Security Framework, and DevOps/Environment Mgmt needs within the Enterprise Foundations organization. This position will provide leadership and influence through active participation in supporting specific platform needs of the delivery portfolios supporting Accounting, Finance, and Human Resources. This individual will help define and execute platform lifecycle strategic plans, change management, standards development for solutions delivered, and will be responsible for developing and managing budgets for their department. This position includes leadership and management responsibility for a team of 8 full-time employees, partner with our other portfolios that serve the business partner, and will oversee contract and consulting resources for projects as needed. This position will report to the Director of Enterprise Foundations.

The areas this position will oversee include:

  • Integration : solution architects and developers supporting solutions developed using BizTalk, Apigee, or Oracle Integration Cloud Services platforms

  • Extensions / Automation : solution architects and developers supporting solutions developed using Oracle Visual Builder Cloud Services, Oracle Digital Assistant, Alteryx, DataGaps, and other emerging technologies in this space

  • Data Framework : solution architects and developers supporting solutions developed using Oracle Analytics Cloud Services, Oracle Data Integrator, Data Virtualization, and other bulk data export needs

  • Test Automation Framework : test automation engineers supporting the management and execution of test automation scripts scoped by our business partners

  • Security Framework : security architects enabling platform security across Enterprise Foundations

  • DevOps / Environment Management : Devops and solution architects supporting the coordination of devops automation and environment management within Southern Company

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Business, or other related field. Advanced degree preferred.

  • 5 years’ experience working with application development methodologies/processes and technologies within an enterprise business application footprint. Strong preference given to candidates with experience providing support and maintenance activities for Oracle Cloud-based technology

  • 3 years’ supervisory and performance management experience or 3 years of team lead responsibilities

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including building a strong, results-oriented team.

  • Proven track record of achieving measurable results working with and through others, including geographically dispersed teams.

  • Understands and is knowledgeable of technology solutions that could impact the other portfolios in Enterprise Foundations.

  • Ability to find opportunities to maximize the use of our technology platforms across the portfolios to further rationalize processes and technologies across Southern Company

  • Proven analytical skills, problem solving skills, and project management skills.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as the management level interface to the supported portfolios within this position’s area of responsibility; and has ownership of all solution activities supported by this team and possibly other expanding capabilities within our platforms.

  • Oversees the development of and executes application lifecycle strategic plans for the platforms they support, including new solutions development, assessment of options from vendors, and other software development responsibilities. Ensuring the usability of all platforms provided to the portfolios and monitoring each platform is current relative to patching and cyber security standards.

  • Responsible for ensuring the SDLC process is followed for all technology solutions.

  • Responsible for strategic planning and support for all technologies within their area of responsibility.

  • Participates in the purchase and implementation of vendor technologies, including vendor interface and support.

  • Resolves quality issues, working across TO and the portfolios as needed.

  • Ensures disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place and tested within their areas of support.

  • Accountable for the successful delivery of configuration changes (i.e., code, databases, network, etc.) to ensure the stability of the application computing platform.

  • Responsible for the development and management of the budget for the position’s department.

  • Establishes and maintains strong partnerships/working relationships with other areas of TO and teams within Enterprise Technology Solutions.

  • Ensuring the security of the platforms meets company standards and will be influential standards development going forward.

  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with regulations including Sarbanes Oxley and PII data protection standards. This position will also have ownership of certain SOX controls and will be accountable for the enforcement and reporting obligations of these controls per internal controls guidance.

  • Responsible for attracting, developing, retaining, and managing a diverse group of employees.

  • Responsible for hiring, performance management, and terminations, and for providing daily work direction, feedback and coaching to their direct reports.

  • Responsible for workforce planning for their area of responsibility, and for appropriately identifying and developing successors for this position and its direct reports’ positions.

  • Facilitates the development of employees to be specialist in the technical solutions they will develop and support. Mentors and coaches employees towards superior performance. Actively engages in workforce planning to maximize human resources and prepare for future opportunities.
