Job Summary

Southern Company Services is seeking a forward-thinking, experienced application analyst to join our organization in supporting the Nuclear construction industry. This position will be supporting the only new Nuclear Power plant currently being built in the United States. The selected candidate will be responsible for product ownership and provide subject matter expertise to drive software solution optimization for nuclear construction applications and cutting-edge cloud operations. The candidate will provide leadership and serve as a change agent to ensure the effective utilization of the current solution and help define the future state strategies. The candidate will be a vital partner with the Nuclear Construction business to understand their processes and drive innovation & efficiencies while working closely with vendors, developers, architects and key stakeholders to create and execute product planning and strategy development.

The candidate will be responsible for taking a pragmatic approach utilizing the applications inventory, system architecture diagrams, current and multi-year technology organization budgets, SLAs between the Technology Organization and internal customers, key performance indicators, lifecycle analysis, emerging business needs, and market technology trends to define practical steps to move the organization towards future state.

Job Experience & Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology, or equivalent is highly preferred

  • Nuclear plant and/or construction industry experience is highly preferred

  • Experience supporting enterprise applications such as Maximo, Documentum, Primavera is preferred

  • Vendor management and over site experience

  • Database experience with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL

  • Experience with Functional and Technical Analysis and Solution Design

  • Experience with the architect, design, development, and delivery of Cloud based technology solutions

  • Experience with SAAS and IAAS contracts and support is preferred

  • Experience with performing operational analysis and efficiency consulting

  • Experience with making recommendations for automating business processes to increase productivity, reduce costs, and continuously improve

  • Experience with collaborating with other architects and vendors on infrastructure configuration and strategy

  • Experience evaluating technology and enterprise system options and mapping technical solutions to strategic business goals

Other Requirements

  • Signature of Intellectual Property Agreement is required for all Southern Company Technology Organization employees

  • Signature of Vogtle 3&4 – EPC Confidentiality Agreement is required for all Southern Company Technology Organization employees supporting Southern Nuclear

  • Successful completion of Southern Nuclear Background Investigation (including credit history/check) is required for employment

  • Participation in Random Drug/Alcohol Testing is a requirement of employment

  • Some travel will be required (approximately 5%)
